CHEF TANYA CONNELLAN
Tanya has been cooking around the traps for over 25 years, learning her craft as a young chef under the influence of well-known Melbourne chefs; Ian Curley, Stephanie Alexander, Michael Bacash & Cath Claringbold.
Young chefs would and do call Tanya – “Old School”, using classic old-world techniques to construct flavourful hearty dishes.
Tanya’s cooking is inspired by her travels throughout Europe & her food heroes: Alice, Stephanie, Gabrielle, April & Alaistair.
Tanya’s dedication to organic & biodynamic produce began over 15 years ago, working at the Green Grocer in North Fitzroy.
We moved to Port Fairy in 2006 and started out in our first restaurant at The Stag here in Port Fairy in 2008. We’ve been at the Merrijig since June 2011 and love it!
It’s Tanya’s commitment to quality and seasonality in every dish that goes out of her kitchen that makes us special!
