Merrijig Kitchen

The Merrijig Kitchen is our restaurant in our historic dining room and is open for dinner from 6pm Friday - Monday.

We write our menu daily, using whatever our garden and our local farmers produce. We love neighbourhood producers popping into the kitchen to show off their wares - this really is Tanya's inspiration!

Our Wines

Our wine list is carefully crafted focusing on passionate producers, using sustainable practices, to produce wine which tells its own story.  We have the only '2 glass' (highly recommended by @GTWine Mag) in the south-west region - for the past 9 years. You'll find local heroes, small artisans and hipsters, íconic producers, and an unapologetic amount of European deliciousness.

Chef Tanya Connellan

In 2020, Tanya celebrated thirty years of professional cooking. She began her apprenticeship with well-known Melbourne chefs; Ian Curley, Stephanie Alexander, Michael Bacash & Cath Claringbold. These years would shape Tan “old school” approach to cooking – using traditional and European techniques to construct flavourful hearty dishes.

A dedication to organic & biodynamic produce was brought about by her years at North Fitzroy’s Green Grocer and her food continues to be inspired by her travels & her heroes: France, New York and New England, Rome and Piedmont, Alice Waters, Gabrielle Hamilton, April Bloomfield & Alastair Little.

Tan whole-heartedly believes you can taste the love in cooking, and each dish in her dining room is a testament to that belief.
